Before you can write a college application essay, you need to have a topic. It is not only necessary to pick an interesting topic, but it also has to be manageable. Therefore, it is advisable to brainstorm and come up with several ideas. Then, write a draft of the essay to check your progress. It is important to keep in mind that you have little experience writing college application essays, so brainstorming and writing ideas will be essential.
Your college application essay is a unique opportunity to introduce yourself to the admissions committee and showcase your personality. It is not the time to list your accomplishments, achievements, and honors; instead, tell the admissions committee something about yourself. Be authentic and avoid over-use of big words. In addition, make sure your essay uses proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. You should ideally consult a college application advisor if you need help with your essay.
